You don't owe taxes on this, and neither does your friend. If you give someone more than 15 thousand dollars in a year, if you're generous enough to do so, you are supposed to file a gift tax return. That basically subtracts the amount from the total that you can give over the course of your life, which is 12 million dollars. So get a lot of money, so you're good. Don't worry about it.
