Anxiety, as I understand it, is really fear of the unknown. As soon as we're ejected from the womb, and we come into all these strange people and places and things that hit us are radically unknown. We have no background, no equipment, really, to deal with it, are very little. But if we can feel safe enough from our caretakers and from the culture around us to feel like we can stay with them, we may begin to see some other things that we didn't see at the beginning.
