"We had the facts as a result of the Discord leak, but we needed a legal theory and you're right. That's what was kind of hard here," he said. "What we ended up having to do is to go back to a statute called the KKK Act of 1871." The law says that if private people get together and form a conspiracy in order to commit racially motivated violence, then that violates this statute.
