CHAPTER

The Model 3's Taillights Are Now Amber, Not Red

The Model 3 and Model Y use identical taillights in terms of their shape, their housing, and possibly the thing I definitely can't be sure of, the wiring. Tesla says the outer C-shaped portion of the taillights now illuminates brighter when braking activity occurs - i.e. if you press the brake pedal manually or if regen braking happens. With the updated design, the turn signal is now amber, making it much clearer to a nearby motorist that you are planning on turning. Studies have shown up to a 28% decrease in the likelihood of a collision with amber turn signals versus red ones.
