When I have kids, the way in which I value my own personal freedom or ability to pursue creative pursuits that don't have clear financial payoffs may be different. Luckily, I do not have an obsession with collectible cars. My obsessions these days include playing online chess, which costs $0. So we're in good standing there.

Money is complicated because it’s influenced by your direct circumstances, but also by your childhood, psychology, and trajectory. It's also complicated because so few people talk openly and honestly about money.
