The Importance of a Draft Card
Sally Kohn: I'm not even a big free speech guy, but for me, this like has never flown. The only tangible purpose that the card serve is to signify that you've been registered for the draft,. They're also a reminder to the holder of the card to notify your local draft board of address changes. So why should it even matter that there's some theoretical legitimate purpose for the law when the actual real life purpose is literally to suppress speech?Kohn: Everyone knows that the actual purpose of this law is just to punish war protesters for their views. Every lawyer involved in this case knows that.
