The Impact of Representation Learning on Natural Language Processing
There's a couple areas where representation learning is really beginning to have a large impact. In the space of natural language, one area that is particularly fascinating to me is in analyzing electronic medical records. I would struggle to imagine an application area of machine learning or representation learning hasn't had an impact. It's absolutely pervasive and kind of part of every model building exercise.
