The Centre Would Not Hold, the Congress Leaders Were Not Slashed
History always makes seem everything that has already happened inevitable, like its hundred persn't going to happen this way. But there was a non zero chance that the centre would not hold. The constitution was designed to be so centralizing and we kept so much of the oppressive colonial apparatus because we needed it stability.
