Mora Erin Smeely: International Women's Day is a good time to reflect on the fact that decisions around career and family are different for women and men. High achievers are especially susceptible to putting things on their life lists just because society or their parents think they should, she says. She explains how you can slow down your decision making by going through each step of a specific process called the five C's. The first C is to clarify what's most important to you, then generate a broad range of choices, check in with friends, family, and trusted resources, and finally explore consequences.
In this episode, Myra and Abby share their five-step process for making good decisions. It goes like this:
CLARIFY what’s most important to you. COMMUNICATE with those most affected by your decision. Generate a broad range of CHOICES. CHECK IN with friends, family, and trusted resources. And explore your decision’s possible CONSEQUENCES.
