The Decomposition of Human Life in a Trench
When it starts raining, we see the archaeological layers of different battles. Just each battle deposits a new layer of sediment of human lives that you then build your trench on top of. It's just beyond nightmarish. And it's like fields of bodies that have just been left there because like whichever combatant side wasn't able to like fetch the bodies to bury them so they just left them. They're just like bones and skulls and hellish, hell on earth.
