What Happened Out There in the Umbra?

The final four convention books focus so heavily on technocracy only. I can see how they were disembodied by the dimensional anomaly. But this book makes it very clear that they are evil, and they want to do harmful, damaging things if they get their way. It seems kind of odd to put this at the end of revised edition with these later convention books. Just seem odd to me. And one thing i'm wondering about is, when looking at revised edition as a whole,. They spend more time together in every day being different from each other.
