The Difference Between a Poet and a Novelist
When you are working, you are taken out of yourself. You're in the service of something that is so much more than just your own personal feelings. So i think many people don't come into the studio with a sense of reality and then their work becomes an expression of that. And what what a difference there can be between men. For example, thomas hardy. He was often characterized as melancholic, so down, so inow, dispiriting. But actually he was a very cheerful man. In his poetry, which also is quite dark, but it's ways more uplifting than his prose,. I really think he was a greater poet, actually, than a novelist
