China's Role in the World's Rare Earth Supply Chain
China became the world's leader in rare earth production and processing a lot of it, because it's environmentally pretty nasty stuff. They own a lot of lithium deposits across the world and are buying up more. And to top it off, china controls nearly 75 % of all lithium battery manufacturing. As of 20 20, it had 93 large scale lithium on battery manufacturing plants, compared to just four in the us.
