When we do deep breathing or nasal breathing, there's mechanoreceptors on these epithelial cells that when we activate them, it turns on the enzyme that makes nitric oxide. And then that nitric oxide that's produced in the epithelium will be delivered into the upper and lower airways. It's a bronco dilators. You'll dilate the bronchules and you'll get better oxygen uptake and oxygen delivery.
