Are the Choke Points in Publishing?
There used to be dozens of publishers. Then there were six, then there were five. There's about to be four. They all have the same set of terms. You are more likely to be locked into a multi-book deal that they can cancel,. But you can't if you get a better offer from someone else. And when we outsource to them the power to decide what we listen to, we're creating a choke point between creators on one side and audiences at the other.
