The Importance of Poetry

I wonder if the would-be poets who could compose such an epic poem have just been brain drained, so to say, because of banal incentives. So there's no money or status in poetry, relatively speaking, as there used to be. Poets continue to write about their divorces. And it's not to suggest that a divorce is not as important perhaps as an orange-y thing like on Titan. But for some reason, the Epic seems impossible. It seems like an unavailable tool in the toolbox.
