Movie Review: Song of the South by Hattie McDaniel

In 19 forty four, with little work on offer, hattie accepted the absolutely thank role of tempy in song of the south. Critics would recognize tempy as the most retrograde, submissive role hattie mc daniel played. The n a c p was not successfully doing much to change the number rand quality of opportunities for blacks in hollywood. Glamorous actresses and musicians like lena horn began appearing in mainstream hollywood movies. But those more modern images made tempy who only sings while happily working in the plantation house, seem even more retrograde.
