The first part of relapse prevention training can be changing the self-defeating belief that triggers the depression or anxiety. We've had recent podcasts on the downward arrow technique. And then I have the person talk back to those thoughts using this powerful technique we've alluded to. The second thing is to change the person's belief system and that's been helpful to me too because I had that same kind of perceived perfectionism driving my anxiety for years as well. Third part is having the patient talk back to the negative thoughts that will inevitably spring up during a relapse.
