China in 2023 has added or approved 20 gigawatts of new coal power. Donald Trump appeared this week on the CNN Town Hall and somebody said what are you going to do if you're reelected as president to lower energy prices? His answer was drill baby drill, that's a quote. And it doesn't seem like Japan, Germany, the U.S., any of the global North countries are hesitating at all to fire up the coal power plants but yet they will deprive countries like Zimbabwe of the $3 billion in financing needed to build the Senghua power plant. It just feels a little bit weird to me that coal is bad for Zimbabwe but it's okay for West Virginia
