There's a simultaneity of this kind of suspicion of big corporate power, not just as a market efficiency proposition, but as a democratic problem. I argued ths book about popularism, i think americans don't like concentrations of power. They like the idea that power can be diffused. For the most part, people without much power can't be doing anything good. We remain proud to be associated with disent, so is a mutual admiration of society.
