Executive Privilege Protects People Who Work in the White House

Former President Trump invoked executive privilege when Steve Bannon got the subpoena. He now began cooperating with the government and all of a sudden has said, oh well, he didn't say this and he didn't mean that. The lawyer clearly was aware that this guy Clark was trying to pull something at the time and warned Bannon about that. But he invoked privilege. And I've never heard of a successful executive privilege claim applying to somebody who's outside the government. There are reasons the institution maintains that executive privilege even with people outside the executive branch.
