The Relationship Between Understanding and Language
The meditations are bound in science that it should not be approached as one would of philosophical essay, aiming to lay out thesis and their demonstrations. To begin with, it is written in the first person. This is done to engage the reader. And so the reader assumes the arguments. But this can't be everything that is involved here, even if the arguments are extremely complicated. There's more to say here about the relation between understanding and language, what Plato thought of it.
