Rodney's Return to Jamaica in 1968

The year 1968 stands out as perhaps the most tumultuous year in a famously tumultuous decade. One of the years many noteworthy tumults happened in October in Kingston, Jamaica and this particular period of unrest is known as the Rodney Riots. To understand why he has the odd distinction of a set of riots being named after him, we must first see how Rodney's return to Jamaica allowed him to emerge as a kind of public intellectual.
