The Importance of Pushing the Limits

Exercise and training on the whole has been shown repeatedly to actually strengthen your immune system. We know that when you do something like an Ironman, when you are at a very high level of exertion for a very prolonged period of time, that it is true seems to have a transient immunosuppression effect specifically as it relates to respiratory viruses. As long as you're training at a reasonable level, you're not overdoing it in terms of significantly long efforts at significantly high intensity, you don't need to worry about this.
