The Importance of Indirect Leadership

Captain Benteen was a wonderful officer. He let the first sergeant pretty much run the company. Never once heard him raise his voice to enforce his purpose. If he found this kindly manner was misunderstood, then his iron hand would close quickly down. That's a really good example of some solid leadership.
