Introduction
Community acquired pneumonia is one of the most common clinical conditions primary care clinicians and hospitalists treat. It's been 13 years since the American Thoracic Society and infectious diseases Society of America issued guidelines regarding how to treat this important clinical condition. In a major overhaul, these guidelines were recently updated with a summary we published in the March 3, 2020 issue of JAMA. Dr. Maylen Martinez reviews these changes in today's JAMA Clinical Reviews podcast.
