The Arab Spring and the Yemeni Revolution
Yemen is the only non-monarchy in the Gulf sort of region. It had been for a period of some decades divided between a north Yemen and a south Yemen. About 80% of the population lives in the north, and about 20% live in the south. And so you have the southern secessionists in the south, and in northern Yemen you had a group called the Houthis. There was a long battle to establish a republic in northern Yemen that finally achieved in the late 60s.
