In plants, you can see the organelles that are essentially blasted open. They're called amyloplast. A little bit similar to the way your ears would be damaged by a loud explosion. There's a specific sort of cascade that would occur. Lots of researchers are now looking at the way plants respond to acoustic communication. The interesting thing is these experiments could have been done for decades, but we only recently started looking because in a way we had pre-conceived notions about the ability of other species to hear or be attuned to sound.
