Hyperclimia - What's Your Approach in Workup?
In the ideal scenario, what I want to do is actually confirm this is a true hyperclimia. And you get an EKG and you start seeing these spectrum of changes. So they can start with peak T-waves then progress to an increased PR interval, a widened QRS, eventually development of sine waves. The biggest thing that we most worry about is the evolution of a PEA or ACES delay cardiac arrest. In general, the way that you think about this, and this is additionally applicable to CKD patients, is what is the deviation from where their usual potassium level is?
