Japan's anti-Yakuza laws result in cohort of aging gangsters. More than half of all Yakuza members now over 50 and 10% are over 70 as a result of an aging population. In 2006, 51% of the Yakuza were aged 50 or over. A lot of Yakuza have turned their back on it because they realize there's no benefits to being in the YakuZA anymore.
