Pete meaden was taken on as helmet gordon's stant, but from this point on the group decided to regard him as their defacto manager. As more than just a manager to townsend, in particular, he was a gooroo figure. And he shaped the group to appeal to the mods. Now we've not talked much about the mods previously, and what little has been said has been a bit contradictory. That's because the mods were a tiny sub culture at this point. Or to be more precise, they were three sub cultures. The original mods had come along in the late 19 fifties, at a time when there was a division among jaz
