The Relationship Between Aristotle and Empedocles

Empedocles is a pre-secratic philosopher and doesn't really have anything to do with neo-flatanism, at least not apparently so. But we do find in Islamic materials, reference to Empedocles in terms of a doctrine of love and strife. In the Jewish cases where this al-Unser al-Aul is discussed, there seems rather to be an emphasis on the relationship of form and matter as the kind of dyad that is being discussed.
