Christianity and Liberalism - The Main Line
In 1912, Machan wrote an article for the Centennial Celebration at Princeton on Christianity and culture. He argued that the Christian's place was to seek to consecrate the culture,. Not to compromise it, but to consecrate it. A decade later, after World War I, his overwhelming belief now is that the culture has taken over the church. It doesn't matter really what we believe as long as we all ought to be together.
