Leo Fender was a brilliant guitar designer who had no idea how to play the things that he made. Leo's first target were the country and western musicians who were into lap steel guitars. By early 1948, the company had started working on a solid body Spanish style guitar. The Tele has been compared to the Ford Model T as it brought motoring to the masses.
