The Importance of Free Superiority and Free Status

Ludwig von Mises wrote that there are two ways to exceed your father. One is through actual superiority, which by the premises is difficult for son of a great man. The other is through moral superiority or at least the experience of moral superiority. And that's easier to achieve because it's subjectively defined by oneself. Rit on a generational scale writ large you get the millennial and Gen Z descendants of baby boomers. That's sort of what gets you to where you are in post 2008 American life.
