The Good Ship Social Democracy Needed a Proper Thatcherite Scrub
Even Eric Habsbaw would talk about how the good ship social democracy needed to have its rent seeking barnacles cleansed off by a proper Thatcherite scrub. The interesting thing is that, you know, with the coming of Reagan and Thatcher, we did not get a restoration of post-World War II economic growth rates. That basically we got very little out of it, except for a much higher degree of income and wealth inequality. And I think where we're in some sense stuck because we'd like to have institutions that produce faster growth but can't figure out how to write them on the fly.
