Eddie Howe was de facto director of football during the January transfer window. Newcastle were essentially in a rebuilding phase and trying to keep themselves in the league at that time. There was no there were no directors at the club apart from the people who'd come in. It was an exhausting month but it brought them all together they worked very very successfully together, says Steve Nixon.
