Water Conditioning System

Someone wanted advice on a water conditioning system. We were told of another new technology that uses filter sorb,. SP3, which pulls the calcium and magnesium ions into harmless nanocrystals That are too small to bond and form scale. If anyone have any idea, if this is a good system or it's best to stick with salt water softeners; we will also install a reverse osmosis unit under the kitchen sink.
