How Can We Resolve This Dilemma?
Economies are built on buying and selling goods, on consumption. Without it, we could face a global rocession that would affect everybody. So how can we ind of resolve that dilemma without making people unemployed? I mean, that is the big question. And i think the reason that we all think that you cannot reduce consumption in any way without causing terrible economic damage, is because that's all we've known. Yet. We associate slow downs in consumption with recessions and depressions, but those are completely unplanned. They are not efforts that we have made to manage our descent from the heights of consumption to something more rational. Those are just sudden full stops or abrupt slowdowns in consumption
