The Transition to Youth in the Soviet Union
By 1939 it was clear that they're not going back to a Republican Spain. They started training them to be Soviet citizens or at least Soviet residents. That meant more Russian language training, but also what we call vocational training. These kids couldn't like most Soviet adolescents should stop saying kids at this point. So there's always an attempt to try to help the Spanish refugees better integrate into society.
