The Importance of Attendance in Poetry
Catherine's poems are so good at tracking attention and thinking. Do you see your long poem sequence up late as a kind of stretching towards him? Is that the attendance? I mean you know we attend the dying all the time but whenever my mother died she died of cancer in Nuri hospice. So I just wrote all the way through it which is why it's got that weird real time element, because I was writing things down as they were happening.
