Today’s episode is my updated deep dive on IGF-1 LR3, and I’m doing it for a very specific reason: this is a peptide I genuinely love using, but most people either don’t know it exists… or they only know it through the bodybuilding mythos that’s been floating around for years.

IGF-1 LR3 got popular in the research community because it was labeled as the “holy grail” that would supposedly turn you into a stage-winning bodybuilder overnight. I’m telling you right now — that’s not the use case, and if that’s the expectation, you’re going to be disappointed. What I am going to talk about is the real longevity optimization lane: strategic, disciplined, a few times per year — mostly around preserving and building muscle, improving body recomposition, and supporting healthspan as IGF-1 declines with age.

We’re going to break down what IGF-1 LR3 actually is (and how it’s different from other IGF options), the mechanisms that make it so interesting beyond “muscle building” — including some under-discussed mitochondrial and brain angles — and then we’ll talk practical use: timing, why I prefer post-workout, how to avoid the biggest mistake people make (hypoglycemia), and why this isn’t a “beginner peptide.”
