Larry Wright's Unauthorized Biography of Elrond Hubbard

Larry Wright is the most relentless, persnickety, incredibly perfect. And if you read his book, his book is a masterpiece of gathering together and finding what the real story was - that exposed Hubbard as a bullshitter. My connotation of pedantic is always that that's something that's over the top wrong.
