I find that if where there's an interface between the water and the cold it's most uncomfortable so I prefer to just get everything under I keep my head out. These days I've been dunking all the way in and then coming out and then dunking once more with my head under before I get out after the plunge. It raises a different question now we're getting into kind of the practicalities of deliberate cold exposure which I think are importantSometimes I'll experience and I hear from a lot of people that they'll get a kind of back of the head headache at the interface of the water.
