The Importance of Speed in Racing

Ferrari have got the two poles this weekend. Are they getting closer? I mean, yes, that's a fact. But Max was what, 20 seconds ahead of Charles at the end. And Charles said after the race that he actually thinks Aston Martin were faster than Ferrari over a race distance. So probably yes. They've got the car that can do the lap time in quality. But something happens to it over run. It's taking too much out of the tyres. Then they're losing performance that way. If you look at tyre degradation, if you draw a straight line, there's a steep one declining or increasing. Or it's increasing lap time. In defence of Ferrari
