The Importance of Computers in the Workplace

A computer is a symbolic processor, meaning it can act upon stored representations of information. Computers have been around since the Second World War but they didn't become cheap and commonplace until the 1980s. People with rarefied expertise in the professions such as law or medicine are now scarcer than before. The irony is that there are many things we do that we don't actually know how to do them.
