In 1990, Kevin Trudeau was convicted of depositing $80,000 in worthless checks and impersonating a doctor. Later that year, he was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for credit card fraud. He pleaded guilty and served 10 days of a 21-day sentence. While in custody, he underwent a psychiatric evaluation which found no indication of organic mental disorder or psychosis.
