I think that's a really big key where people and athletes focus so much on developing strength. You may have the strongest core in the world, but unless you're using it in a functional manner, it doesn't matter. Having that neuromuscular connection is the type of strength I see most runners needing and lacking the most. A lot of that starts at the feet. You can't train the glute activity properly unless you engage the feet.
