Hello and welcome to episode 52 of the Metatak Podcasts, an interview podcast by Metah where we talk to engineers who work on other friend technologies. My name is Pascal and just like Kendall Roy, this podcast is twin-track, instead, but it's alive. Things have been a little tumultuous over the last few months, so apologies for the delay in getting this episode out to you. But rest assured, the Metatak Podcasts will continue and I will hopefully have another episode ready for you in June. I don't want to bore you with all the inside baseball here, but if you want to hear more, then stick around until after the interview. And speaking of which, I am joined for this episode's interview by Suraj, a developer-advocate hair-admitter who works on PyTorch, the popular machine learning framework. It's fair to say that PyTorch has been a massive success in the industry, but this wasn't by accident, so I asked Suraj what factors contributed to its success and how other open-source projects can replicate it. If you don't know anything about PyTorch, then don't worry because that pretty much describes me before the interview too, and Suraj will catch you up right at the start. And just a quick plug before we get to it. We have a new post and the MetatopenSource blog about creating safe spaces for underrepresented individuals in open-source communities, and it's a great companion piece to our discussion, especially for people like me who represent the majority of people contributing to open source, it can often be tricky to even enumerate the different ways in which projects may be inadvertently exclusive, so if you care about creating thriving, inclusive communities around your open-source projects, I highly recommend you check it out. You can find a link to the article and everything else we discuss in this episode as ever in the show notes. And now, without further ado, here is my interview with Suraj.
