The Importance of Localization in Epilepsy

In terms of epilepsy, first, you don't necessarily want the patient to seize in the scanner. So what you see is interictal abnormal electrical activity and the idea would be to localize that. You can simultaneously record EG and F MRI and then check what bold traces can you track out of these interictal discharges. But when you do that, very often you just don't get a single spot. If you believe these activations, then the patient is no candidate for epilepsy surgery anymore.
